DBT Groups in Atlanta

Local DBT skills groups led by experienced Atlanta therapists for those in Toco, Decatur, Brookhaven, and beyond

Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) can improve your relationships and help you feel more in control of your emotions. DBT groups can provide a highly effective way to learn and practice these skills with other people in group therapy who have similar goals and challenges.

At Atlanta Therapy & Wellness, we offer DBT group therapy as well as individual DBT therapy in Atlanta. Our groups are led by skilled therapists who have diverse professional and personal experiences. We strive to make our group therapy services as accessible as possible in order to help people from all walks of life get the care that they need.

At the same time, we know that our offerings may not always be the right fit. If you're looking for DBT skills groups in a different location or need a group for a specific age range or gender, we can recommend other local DBT skills groups that may be a better option for you.

Here, we offer a brief overview of four local DBT-informed groups (including ours) for those in North Druid Hills, Buckhead, Decatur, and throughout Atlanta so you can find the best one for you.

FAQs about DBT skills groups

  • DBT groups teach people dialectical behavior therapy in a group setting. Each group may be run slightly differently, but typically, group sessions involve a brief check-in from group members, learning DBT skills, the opportunity to practice, and homework assignments to apply the skills in real-life settings.

  • The four modules of dialectical behavior therapy are mindfulness skills, emotion regulation skills, distress tolerance skills, and interpersonal effectiveness skills. All of these modules are meant to help participants feel more in control of their emotions and cultivate happier, healthier relationships.

  • The groups listed here are all local to Atlanta. Some offer virtual groups so that people outside of the greater Atlanta area can participate. However, if you're looking for an in-person group elsewhere in Georgia (or in a different state entirely), we recommend using a therapist directory or doing a Google search for groups in your area.
